One such rival challenge was to attempt to be the first to recover [[Potentia Crystal]] (or Crystal "eyes" as he names them), magical crystals divined to unlock one's inner power. This expedition would lead him, along with the recently-arrived [Dark Pilgrims](The%20Dark%20Pilgrims.md), to travel towards the mountains of [the Screaming Taiga](The%20Screaming%20Taiga.md) with haste, as Cortez supposedly had a day's journey ahead of him.
