He was the one that helped [The Honored Shadows](The%20Honored%20Shadows.md) during their arrival on Aelenclast. He holds some level of his reasoning however, and has the capacity of speaking Common. As all [[Bonechewa]] Gnolls, Jan appears to have a link to their Chieftain, one that he attributes to "voices telling him what Big Boss wants". Unlike his pack mates, Jan began to think individual thoughts, and felt that what he hears from this link no longer makes sense. He however does not feel like he is able to leave his clan's den, as he still views it as his home.
