She first appeared in [[Spirit's Rise]], and went on to be in [Wrath of the Maelstrom](Wrath%20of%20the%20Maelstrom) and [Edge of Twilight](Edge%20of%20Twilight.md). >[!info|clean center no-i no-t] >>[!recite|no-i]- Background >>Effie Prentice is a [Changeling](Verum/Races/Changeling.md) Rogue who was born on [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md). She was raised in a small cottage in [Dolten](Dolten.md) with a mother whom only cared for her enough to keep her useful. One night between her 8th and 9th year of life, she met the company of a [Halfling](Verum/Races/Halfling.md) named Mr. Moss. A "Night Inspector" who saw her condition and decided to try to help her. In the middle of making her something to eat, Effie's mother came home and attacked Effie in rage. Effie was able to escape with the help of Mr. Moss, who sacrificed himself for her. His final order told her to take his Holy Symbol of [Sekelcuse](Sekelcuse.md) and find the Sekelcites located on the outskirts of the city. Effie was able to successfully find them and through some efforts, the band made their way to Majital. Effie was enrolled in School, where she was able to have a very rudimentary understanding of the Arcane. Her "family" of Sekelcites made sure she was fed, clothed and also taught the most important skill of all; How to steal. She became an outstanding thief as she grew up, being hired to do bigger and bigger jobs. She unfortunately met her end much too young at the blade of another rogue who wanted her latest heist for themselves. Her story begins a second time on [Conflux](Conflux.md).
