Trying to help as best she could, Maelie robbed graves. It was on these odd jobs that she taught herself the magic she now wields as a mage. She sold what she could find to the highest bidder, and used this money to keep the raiders off her family land. >> >>In a string of bad events, her parents were killed, the family home razed to the ground by Elves, her buyer backed out on her, and her Uncle was carted off in chains by adventurers for the crime of robbing graves. Honoring a promise she made when her Ma died, she saved one of the Elves who had raided her home. >> >>The Elf, Cole, ended up sticking around to help Maelie rebuild. Eventually she grew to trust him and told him about her job. She had been saving what money she made from these hauls to buy their way out of the Badlands. On her last job, escaping some ruins through a secret passage, she noticed Cole and the adventurers who had arrested her Uncle setting up an ambush. He had sold her out. Maelie ran into the wilderness. Her last memory is being lost in a storm; the wailing of banshees closing in from all sides. She couldn’t remember much; only the standards her family had taught her. “Someone’s gotta stand up for the little folk – the ones who can’t fight for themselves. Don’t shoot first, but finish your fights. Give others a second chance to do right. Free those wrongfully imprisoned.” >> >>Maelie decided to use this new life as a second chance to try and be a better person. She can sometimes be a little overzealous to do “good” or “right”. Although, several events since her awakening have been… less than ideal. She struggles with how easy it is to slip back into her old ways and worries that true change might be futile. Always failing is taxing on her emotions. >> >>She’d love to just find a place to settle down peacefully, maybe start a family of her own, and retire without worries. Maybe she’d even find a connection to a deity. Until then she just keeps moving on; taking it one day at a time. Her team is her found family, her nightmare a faithful companion, and with Irha by her side… there’s still hope it won’t be all bad and something, somewhere, might eventually go right. >[!info|clean center no-i no-t] >>[!recite|no-i]- Current Arc >>Maelie helped free Folly on the Twilight Station with Irha’s help, but that came at its own cost. Since being freed, Folly has been cutting a swath of destruction across the planes. Maelie is on a quest given by Oun and Wode to catch up to Folly and convince him to pay for his destruction of the dream. If he objects, then we have been tasked to put an end to his destruction by whatever means necessary. The rest of the team is expecting a fight, but Maelie and Irha believe that Folly will listen to reason. For now, the team is heading to Band where Folly was last seen. Along the way they have a few stops planned on Rampart, Dragonstar, Erast, and maybe even Storvex. ## Trivia - She will try any food or drink once. - She’s slightly clumsy due to being twice as tall as her previous self. - Her unseen servant is named “Zeb”. - Only Irha knows her given name is Rosmaeline. - She won’t shoot first unless it’s clear her life, the lives of her teammates, or the lives of whomever she may be trying to rescue are in danger. - She prefers to fight at range from her enemies. However, if she is cornered, she’ll straighten her hat, stand her ground, and go for glory. After all, she’s a War Mage.
