# Sanguine Substitution
You may use your own life force to cast spells, instead of spending a spell slot, you may instead cast the spell by sacrificing hit points equal to double the spell’s level + your exposure. A spell cast this way must be Hard cast and is considered a blood (or sanguine) spell, even if it normally would not be. This sacrificed life cannot be redirected, prevented or mitigated in any way. It also ignores temporary hit points.
