The attack counts as a critical hit for all game mechanic purposes, except it does not actually do more damage due to it being a critical hit. (other damage modifications still apply) >- [Declare Liege](Declare%20Liege.md): You can as a bonus action, declare an ally you can see within 30ft. That ally becomes your Liege Lord. >While adjacent to your Liege Lord, you share your [Battle Hardened (C)](Battle%20Hardened%20(C).md) bonus with them. This reduces their damage taken as per the [Battle Hardened (C)](Battle%20Hardened%20(C).md) rules. If they possess this feature yours stacks with theirs. >While adjacent to your Liege Lord, you deal an additional amount of damage equal to your Liege Lord’s Character level. The Liege Lord takes this damage as well, that damage cannot be redirected or mitigated in anyway. >- [Shifting Allegiances](Shifting%20Allegiances.md): Whenever you would choose a new [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md), enemies gain advantage on attacks against you for 1 round. Your new [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) is healed by half of the damage dealt you dealt to the previous [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md). >### 7th Level >- [Underhanded Tactics](Underhanded%20Tactics.md): Whenever you would be critically hit, you may choose to allow your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) to take half of that damage. If you do, that creature ceases to be your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md). That creature also gains a bonus to damage rolls with their weapons equal to half of the damage they took from this ability. >If you would fail a saving throw, you can choose to have your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) suffer that effect instead. If you do, that creature ceases to be your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md). The next [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) you choose that was not the previous creature is immune to the effect the previous [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) suffered from. >### 8th Level >- [Lead by Example](Lead%20by%20Example.md): Whenever you would defeat an enemy, you may allow your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) to make an attack against an enemy they are adjacent to. If that attack defeats an enemy, you may repeat this effect by selecting a new [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) as a triggered action. >If you possess the [Way of the Warrior](Way%20of%20the%20Warrior.md) class feature, if Lead by Example allows an ally to attack, they may benefit from your [Fighting Spirit (C)](Fighting%20Spirit%20(C).md) class feature, even if you have already expended it. This does not expend your use of [Fighting Spirit (C)](Fighting%20Spirit%20(C).md). >### 9th Level >- [The Spirit of the Mercenary](The%20Spirit%20of%20the%20Mercenary.md): You can, during a social encounter attempt to convince an enemy that you wish to join their side. You gain advantage on any social check needed to convince them of this farce. If they accept, you gain any benefits from being in that faction for 1 week and for 1 combat, if applicable. If that combat is against the faction you temporarily joined, you gain a surprise round against the members of that faction. >### 10th Level >- [In the End](In%20the%20End.md): Once per long rest, whenever your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) would be killed, you can instead choose to die in their place. If you do, your [Liege Lord](Declare%20Liege.md) is healed to full hit points and is immune to incapacitation for 1 round. >Your death is delayed for 3 rounds. In which case your hit points cannot be reduced below 1 hit point. If you defeat a major enemy or you are victorious in the encounter you do not die.
