># Smithing Kit
>
>A Smithing Kit allow you to work metal, heating it to alter its shape, repair damage, or work raw ingots into useful items.
>Smithing kits may use one of their charges during a rest to restore 1 point of [Armor Rating](Armor%20Rating.md) to a shield or armor.
>
>(You may only expend 1 charge to repair armor during a short rest. You may expend more than one charge to repair armor during a long rest.)
>
>This kit also allows you to construct armaments as you are adventuring, assuming you can create a fire

># Trick
>
>**Tighten and Sharpen:** You can add the [Upkept](Upkept.md) Property to an armament during a rest. This is a temporary effect and lasts until your next rest. Using this ability takes 1 charge of your kit.
>
># Mastery
>
>**Improved Tighten and Sharpen:** You can add any General Masterwork property instead of [Upkept](Upkept.md) to an armament. Its cost and duration remain the same. (any non-magical / non-artifact T1-T4 property)

># Masterwork Kits
>- **???:** Doubles the amount of AR repaired. ([The Forgotten City S1E12](The%20Forgotten%20City.md))
>- **Kithkin:** Can only be used by dwarves, increase the amount of AR repaired by an amount equal to your proficiency modifier.
>- **Grindstone:** Sharpen weapons, gives cut weapon the serrated property, gives hack weapons the deadly property (temporarily).
>- **Polishing:** Add resilience effect without resilience oil.
>- **Traveling Merchant:** Applicable to multiple kits. You are given a carriage and cart, and can sell things on the road.
