# Vavren's Regret _Special Thanks to **[[Ghaz]]** for transcribing this from [The Dark Sermon](Corvanis/Parties/Completed%20Campaigns/The%20Dark%20Sermon/The%20Dark%20Sermon.md) - Vavren: “I intend to show them peace and I intend to show them the way. You (Atreus) come forward.” Atreus: “What do you want from me?” Vavren: “Where is the bell?” Atreus: “It was taken from me from that creature.” Vavren: “Come forward creature.” (Ginny allows Louis to approach vavren) Vavren: “Give the bell to me.” Vavren takes the bell. “All of you will look and you will listen. This object was a creation of the very goddess that you serve. But before that it was a creation of a mortal. You would create dead to slay the living? You would scour those who did you no wrong to take from the family.” Vavren: “You would fight over this artifact to kill each other and garner only more hatred. Yes Oloken’hai might show you the truth of the lies that were given to you, but that is what he does. It is hard truths not tempered by wisdom.” Vavren: “If you believe that was the right path then you did not learn the listens to the lessons I taught you.” Oloken’hai: “If you wish for my help Crowfather then make it as such. If you wish to see what their nature is then I shall make you a deal.” Vavren: “What is this deal you speak of?” Oloken’hai: “Your servant. Let his fate be decided by his friends. If they vote to kill him then you will leave. You may keep his soul. But if they don’t, then I shall adhere to your wisdom and perhaps their nature is not their true self.” Vavren: “Let it be the most tempered one. The one who is wisest.” Oloken’hai’s tentacles wriggle in agreement. “So be it.” Vavren: “I leave it to you. What is justice, Genevive Lanternbridge? You may speak to him as you wish. The decision is yours.” Vavren: “If it can avoid bloodshed. Pointless death. Save this place from perpetual war then so be it.” Oloken’hai: “Fine. Then I will help you. This one will. This one needs a little convincing. Look at all these feelings for the one that died. Fair is fair. Don’t you think?” Vavren: “Your father must be stopped. You must seek the Carnelian Circle. They will give you the tools you require. As for this bell… So much bloodshed over a silly trinket. The dead of whose rest you have disturbed and for the light that would not naught of its source. If you wish to save your goddess then this is not the way.” Vavren crushes the bell in his hand. Magic will swirl all around it and instead a rod will be made. The rod will make its way towards Farryn. “You there, take this. It bears the mark of your goddess. It shall protect you from the corrupting wastes. Seek her there and perhaps you will learn of forgiveness. I offer this to you on only a single condition. May you no longer shed the blood of the heir and her people. Do you accept my offer?” Farryn: “Sir, I do, but I have a question. What am I to tell my superiors? I am not what one may call a free woman.” Vavren: “I fear your superiors have much worse things to worry about.” Farryn: “Then perhaps if I may impose your wisdom could tell me if returning to the Pale City is necessary of if we shall travel directly to the wastes.” Vavren: “Travel there. There is a man who is your greatest chance for peace. Speak with him first but do not linger. The city is in jeapardy and I fear the only thing that will save it is the truth of their goddess.” Oloken’hai gives a tentacle up. Vavren: “My final words are for you Micha’el Grace. You have dishonored you and your friends. You are not of my kin but there is forgiveness. However, I do not believe their trust is easily gained if it is even possible to do so. If their trust is out of your reach, then you must leave. Go to the place of our first meeting and we shall give you purpose you anew. And there was peace once more in the swampy glade.”
