_Special Thanks to [[Books]] for transcribing from [Sagas and Solace](Sagas%20and%20Solace.md) S3E21_ - # Babylon's Meeting Marlowe: Where is your presence in this land? Babylon: My capacity to manifest my presence within this land is difficult… the demons there are not under my guidance. They are rebels for lack of a better word. Unlike the rebels of Greygrum they do not know what they are. Collateral damage from the experiments of that mad wizard. I have sent agents of my own to control this rebellion, but it will take time. Marlowe: Does this have to do something with Agamemnon? Babylon: That is the name of the leader of the rebellions yes. The term rebel may not be quite so accurate. I believe that the Fiend doesn’t even know what it is. Truth be told his birth of the fiend was not of the natural discourse. It was forged by chemical science. Outside the purview of my holy dominance. Without a proper tyrant, such a fiend will lose their way and here we are. Marlowe: Is there a way for us to work together? To save the continent and establish an order. Babylon: An interest proposition. If your lineage were followers of mine but not your own, I cannot help but wonder how any alliance would be just as such… what need do I have of you? Marlowe: I don’t know. But hopefully one that would align with the preservation of the continent and the knowledge within. Babylon: Your presumption is that I wish to preserve the continent… I have no such desire. That continent is one of many upon many worlds and upon its death it will be rebuilt, their souls reaped and the process continues eternal. If it is your purpose to preserve the continent as you see it and preserve what is has to offer, I don’t blame you… althouhgt ill admit were not enemeies, we are also not friends. I find Ezokhine to be rather dull if im honest. Therefore you come to me asking for information, presenting to me a situation in which I could perhaps provide alliance. You have much to gain from our alliance, for my strength is amongst the mitghiest. But ill say again Marlowe… whats in it for me? Marlowe: These rebels under Agamemnon… are causing you trouble and causing us trouble as well. It would be in our mutual interest and a relief of resources to help get rid of them. Babylon: Interesting… you would promise to aid in their destruction? Marlowe: I can’t make that promise atm until I have proper information. We don’t know how to distinguish a follower of Agamemnon from other demons. Babylon: Yes… the knowledge of fiendish kind within that continent is most diminished. I seemed to have found a use for you. Very well… I shall propose what is expected in exchange for what you have discussed thus far. You may tell me if you find it satisfactory. What I will require is quite simple, there is a sliver of my power that was stolen from me from The Mad Wizard. I suspect it is within that continent somewhere. I will admit that the Mad Wizards abilities to hide that of which he plans to keep hidden is second to none. But perhaps mortal eyes may find what is hidden. Therefore I believe in mutual exchange. I do dare say that you will find this to be most agreeable. What was stolen from me is a tome of demonic strength. Hidden within his little laboratory. Find it for me, preserve its knowledge and return it. Do so and I may continue to aid you in this request. Marlowe: I accept these terms. There is one more thing I would like to offer. *Pulls out the stone with an oath on it* It is said we possess souls of the traveler, but I wish to make an oath as a gesture of faith. Babylon: While it is most a good gesture it is not possible. Your soul belongs to another. That of which I do not have quarrel. Marlowe: Who would that be? Babylon: Your god… Marlowe: I am unfamiliar with this. Babylon: You have offered blood and flesh to your god thus I feel his gaze over you. Even now I feel him protecting you from my presence. It is adorable. I will not be accepting a deal from you… but I will take another tribute if you find it acceptable. That one. *Will point towards Laza*. Marlowe: His soul does not belong to me. I will let him speak for himself. Laza: Well surely my soul belongs to Ezohkine? Oh well I did not prepare an oath… Babylon: You shall give to me your soul if you fail to bring forward the tome…. Laza: Do you think that’s a good idea Mr. Marlowe? Marlowe: I don’t know… Gruul: Might I ask what your service might mean to us? If we give service to you what would be required. Babylon: Your service is invaluable to me but this one… knows the cyclopsian language. Well? Laza: What aid will you supply? Babylon: It depends entirely what you had in mind? Marlowe: We will consider that as we search for your tome. I will accept your offer if you’re willing Laza… Laza: I will if Marlowe believes it is wise. Marlowe: Do the rest of you accept this? Party agrees. Marlowe: Can you please describe the tome? Babylon: Very well… *Snaps fingers and a tattoo will appear on Laza as a description and a reminder*. I will send you off with a tome. As a representation of our deal. Once you have decided your request write it upon the tome and once you find the tome our deal will be completed. The promise has been made. I shall send you from my realm with a warning… One day you may find yourself at an impasse in which logic and heart are at odds. Do not ignore your heart. Go. I return you to the realm of mortals until the day your sins bring you to me.
