Made of strong quarried stone of the mountain to the east, the shadow of which his estate sought shelter in. Davian looked out at his men preparing for the day. The training of the second battalion had just begun, conscripted from the southern farms. He looked towards the miners moving out of his sight and into the mountains on the other side of his estate, he knew that today he would receive a new report of their efforts and if things went well, he would have the gold he needed to call on the mercenaries from Saphira. Davian gripped the stone parapets in anticipation as he turned his gaze northward, towards the Broken Oaks. The reports from the scouting teams have been spotty, but it was clear that the church presence in the broken oaks were distracted with the demons summoned at the Lonely Inn. Doubly so, the advenuring guild ran by the honorable Elrond Truefire was now heavily weakened by the demons attacking. Davian had of course been taking advantage of this position by offering mercenary work to the adventurers, displaced by this unfortunate event. But the crowning piece of providence that had occurred were the churches actions against scout squad Epsilon. The church executing them had given him the casus belli he needed to put his only real rivals in the area to the sword, should they plan to prevent his expansion. > >Davian let out a sigh of contentment.
