Down out below in the snow, the Mytherians are building their siege weapons, bonfires of white, choked with censor smoke could be seen wafting up. The Mournguard and the militia armies from the strreets huddled in warmth and protection of the wall, fearing what the day would bring. Fear gripped their hearts, terror stilled their swords, doubt clouded their minds. It was there, in that gloom, a drum sounded. A single rythmic beating, like a heart beat. It started soft, then began to grow. A figure approached the soldiers, ascending the stairs to join them on the wall. It was one of the orcs from the mercenaries hired by the king. He approached and stood amongst them, his drum beaten by a mace, a sound of defiance raised up with each note and with a deeper growl the Skald began to sing. He sang of glory, he sang of hearts blazing with courage, he sang of home, he sang of death. When the sun began to rise, each soldier rose with him, each pounded their weapons on shield and hit upon stone. The thundering beat, like the heart of Mournhowl itself blasted light a storm on the mountain. The Mytherians released their first barrage, as it fell, it fell not upon men and women cowering behind stone, but eyes of fire, spirits defiant and smile of anticipation upon each face. > ##### >
