>### Background
>Growing up under the shadow of the church, the Pale City made it clear that I was not welcome. With a human father and elven mother, I had to adapt to the city’s rhythms to live, scavenging and scrapping when the need came for it. Yet, as much as the Church made it difficult for those touched by magic in any sense, I was more than welcome to serve, putting the skills I relied on to good use.
>
>I developed my talents as a Sweeper for the Church of Mytheria: someone who could complete the tasks that others would want done quietly. Breaking and entering, locating proof of someone’s heresy, creating some if needed. I could adapt to the task as needed, and that was welcome news for prospective clients. I made a name for myself as a contractor under the name of Lullachorain.

>One year after I had started working for them, I had amassed a small fortune and more importantly I had a measure of respect within the city that would see me burning on a pyre with the apostates. But that all came crashing down with my last job.
>
>The job was a trap set up by some local goons. We were supposed to liberate a priest who had gotten close with some outlaw Sorceress and help him return to his senses. But when I and the group that followed me got there, the two were already dead, caught in each other’s arms. Despite our carefulness, word had gotten out about the dead bodies and rumours were spreading that the Church had orchestrated the deaths. We got to work apprehending whoever was spreading these rumours, but by the time the peacekeepers had arrived, the damage was done.

>The Church distanced themselves from me, claiming that I was one of the criminals they had apprehended. I was quickly judged and sentenced, where I would be left to the wilds to die.

>don’t judge the Church for it. They did what they had to do to save face. And I’ll do what I have to do, to get what I’m owed and what I deserve.

>### Personality
>
>Elsie has a hard time interacting with anyone outside of a business transaction, for the simple reason that, in the Pale City where she lived her entire life, anything that wasn’t human was treated with differing levels of suspicion. At the table or under it, all parties were equal. She’ll keep people at length for a time until she can trust them enough.
>
>When it comes to her wants, she’ll either try to barter for it or take it by force if she thinks it could work out better.
>
>Elsie finds the way the church treats kids with the gift of magic to be cruel and painful.
>
>### Battle Tactics
>
>In combat, Elsie prefers to keep her distance, allowing those with strength to do the heavy lifting while she does the dirty work. She’ll keep pressure on those who look like they’ll break and force enemies to change tactics if they want to keep their friends alive. For her allies, she’ll trust that anyone in the same corner as her can carry their own weight. Should the time come for her to decide between an ally and taking someone down, 80% of the time she’ll try to end the threat and then go for her ally.

>There was an old proverb amongst the elves in the slums of [The Pale City](The%20Pale%20City.md): “A lie is a truth that we wished realized.” And every time I heard it, I dismissed it as the wisdom of fools but now I understand it with piercing clarity like an epiphany.

>As we celebrated our victory over all we’ve been through, the lie I kept repeating in my head was beginning to fail. That I could die happy. That I was satisfied that every fight I had been in and that everything I had done was more than enough. That I desired nothing but the peace that came after a hero’s journey. That I was done fighting.
>
>I wanted more. I needed more. I had the taste of blood on my tongue and the wanting ache of my body in combat. I didn’t have the thankful praise of a God of Nightmares, or the companionship of love, nor the desire to rebuild a lineage or even a found family. All I had to show for what I had been through was the trophies I took from my conquests and the waterborne body of a foreign race that I didn’t know.
>I thought I would be left to wander the land, acting as a mercenary and left wanting for a combat, glorious and final. But then there was a blessing is disguise. Or rather a dragon.

>[Lander Hightower](Lander%20Hightower.md), the adoptive father of [Simon](Simon%20Hightower.md) and the don of [The City of Glass](The%20City%20of%20Glass.md), gave his warmest blessings to Simon and revealed a truth hidden until recently. With the Leylines unbroken, he was no longer bound to the frame of mortality and could embrace his Dragonblood once more, revealing himself as a Dragon of green scale. He made clear his intention to make up for lost time and chase fragments of the Storm, taking him back to [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md), to lands unknown.

>It was a perfect opportunity. He was leaving after the celebratory festivities and I offered my services. Let me fight for him if only to whet the hunger for battle. And he accepted, promptly taking off with me on his back. I had words to say for my allies but there was no time except for the final goodbye to the only person I could say I truly enjoyed the friendship of.

>Maybe if I return to the City of Glass, I can rekindle the friendship-with-benefits I have with Simon, the now Don of the City of Glass and now half dragon. But for now, I will seek to devote myself to the former Don as a loyal enforcer.

>A life of brutality and battle would eventually be spent. Elsie returns to the Dream as her mortal coil ends. But it is not [Caspian](Caspian%20Umbra.md) that greets her, but rather a darkness. [Lord Crowley](Crowley.md) has come specifically for this bloodthirsty gem to adorn in his mighty crown. For her hunger for battle never sated. There is a place for one such as that. And so Elsie has made one of the many avatars and weapons in Crowley's arsenal so that she may finally have what she had always wished, another fight worth having.
