# B<small>ABYLON</small> <font size="4">(Baa·bii·lon)</font>
**Babylon** is the God of Oaths, Promises, Seduction and Tyranny from the [[Black Pantheon]]. He is also the leader of the Black Pantheon, as by his domain he rules over faith and oaths.
# Description
Promises, obligations and guilt. The building blocks of society and the source of many powers. What most do not know is that there is a single deity, a being whose age is truly unknowable, in which all oaths are bound. All of them, from the child's promise to their parents to mind, to the drunkards attested boasts, to the paladin's holy vow, are regulated by a being known as Babylon. He has many names, The Man in Black, The First Devil, The Dark Prince. Many forms does he take, many masks he wears, but no matter what, they all come back to a single fact: The devil always gets his due.[^1](https://www.worldanvil.com/w/verum-arcadum/a/babylon-article)

# History
Babylon has appeared in many campaigns, such as _[Death and Debts](Death%20and%20Debts.md/)_, _[Broken Bonds](Broken%20Bonds.md/)_, _[Gambler's Delight](Gambler's%20Delight.md/)_, _[Shattered Crowns](Shattered%20Crowns.md/)_, and many others.
### Kiliwen Joy's Interactions
After defeating the akuma [Koka](Koka.md/) and [Yoka](Yoka.md/), Kiliwen finds a strange horn. As she does so, she communes with Babylon who offers her power in exchange for assisting him in spreading his power onto [Glies](Glies.md/). She agrees to his amusement.[^2](https://youtu.be/D34x9FCNrt4?si=wKXGbLMdNZAlEM18) Later on her journey, while in a strange dungeon related to the [Mists of Glies](Mists%20of%20Glies.md/) she decides to try and contact Babylon, but she only feels a slight feeling of annoyance. Feeling frustrated, she cuts a mist creature which was being experimented on and uses its blood to make an unholy ritual circle. This time, darkness engulfs all around her as Babylon arrives. Kiliwen starts to ramble about how unnatural all the siphoning of life energy happening in the other room is, but then Babylon lifts her up and starts choking her, stating that she is wasting his time. He then explains further that she should look more carefully at her compatriots, as one of them has a strong symbol of his, referring to Vasily’s left arm. He tells her that Otikata and the Pale Emperor have kept their oaths well. Before he disappears, Babylon warns Kiliwen not to summon him again, unless it is the proper time and with a good reason.[^3](https://youtu.be/X3dCzoG22NU?si=w22ffC7KgG0MVTUC)
