# Not'Chek Fablewalker
### Background
**Not'Chek** is an individual who is the namesake of the [Fable of Not'Chek](Fable%20of%20Not'Chek.md/) and [[Monastery of Not'Chek]]. His name also acts as a [Power Word](Power%20Words.md) while inside the Fable.
### Description
Not\'Chek is the namesake behind the *[Scrolls of Not'Chek](Scrolls%20of%20Not'Chek.md/)* campaign with it uncovering his history.
### Appearance
Not\'Chek\'s appearance is unknown as all accounts were from his memory.
### History
### Inside the [Fable of Not'Chek](Fable%20of%20Not'Chek.md/)
## Historical Account
[Anaalius Penetratius](Anaalius%20Penetratius.md/) relieves Not\'Chek\'s memories through crystals within the [Fable of Not'Chek](Fable%20of%20Not'Chek.md/). Anaalius relives a time where Not\'Chek was involved in a large battle on Glies against [Eyeless Ones](Verum/Races/Non-Playable%20Races/Eyeless%20Ones.md) falling from the sky. Not\'Chek and his allies were nearly defeated until a [[Soul Painter]] fell from the sky and started sealing them away into a [Fable](Fable.md/). The Soul Painter uses the last of his strength to seal most of them into the fable and hands it off to Not\'Chek as he lay dying. He tells Not\'Chek to run and hide it. Not\'Chek runs far across the continent eventually arriving at a [[Monastery]] deep in the mountains. He hands off the Fable to the monks who ask for his name. He tells them it\'s Not\'Chek which eventually leads to the Monastery and Fable itself being named after him.[^1](https://youtu.be/M46D5N-axRk?feature=shared)
## [[Old Man Sai]]
After continuing further into the Fable, Anaalius and his fellow adventurers [[Scribbles]], [Schmeg](Schmeg.md/), [Brewbad Stormfinger](Brewbad%20Stormfinger.md/), and [Mataal Ika](Mataal%20Ika.md/) relive more memories which involved Not\'Chek. They explore the dojo of [[Old Man Sai]] who they discover was Not\'Chek\'s master. When Scribbles touches a sword within the fable, causing a swirling winds blow through the dojo as shadows appear on the mats. The party recognizes Not'Chek training with an older fellow. This scene repeats itself several times until it shows Not'Chek offering a Scroll to his Master, yet they refuse. Not'Chek goes into a furious outburst, but his Master continues to sit in a meditative stance just like the Resting Monk. It is not long until Not'Chek leaves through the eastern door in anger taking the Scroll with him.
Eventually Brewbad takes out his Lorekeeper's Scepter inside the dojo and reveals the fate of Old Man Sai. Many years have passed from the initial memory and the dojo is lit in flame and ruin. Old Man Sai sits in the stance of the Resting Monk before being beheaded by an Eclipse soldier. Brewbad recognizes the soldier's face as Not'Chek. The party walks to eastern door to see where Not'Chek has gone. As they step out, the world begins to shift and change. They are now in the aftermath of a great battle.[^2](https://youtu.be/SDLxRIQFBmk?feature=shared)
## Eclipse
Using the Lorekeeper\'s Scepter once more outside Brewbad witnesses the battle taking place. The [Pale Emperor](Otami_Kurosai "wikilink") of the Eclipse looks from a nearby hill. They then look towards Brewbad, and something comes out of him. It is Not'Chek in chains with the Scroll. The Pale Emperor holds out his hand for the Scroll, but Not'Chek refuses. However, a conversation happens between the two, and Not'Chek grip weakens and he drops the Scroll on the ground. The Pale Emperor picks it up with a slight smile. Not'Chek then gives them the necklace in its full form, shining in a violet light. The violet light is only a reflection from the sunlight, so it is not true Violet light, but it still carries immense power. Not'Chek explains the mechanism of the Scroll and necklace to the Pale Emperor. The Emperor then takes out the crystal from the necklace, puts the necklace in the egg, clothes Not'Chek in Eclipse armor, and hands back the Scroll. The battle surrounding them ends, and Not'Chek rides to the north.
## Monastery
The party follows Not'Chek's footsteps and heads north. The world shifts once more, and they arrive at a familiar monastery. Scribbles looks up to the sky and sees that Not'Chek went to a nearby conquered monastery to store the Scroll and waited for the Pale Emperor's instruction.
### Battle
As the party reaches the end of the Fable, they see a reflective chamber with a Samurai in the center. His arm is charred with red spikes, and one red horn protrudes from his straw hat. Not'Chek realizes that the party should not be here. He then points at Brewbad and asks why he has the Lorekeeper's mark. This sparks a conversation that reveals that Not'Chek thought his Dwarven friend and his master were fools for thinking peace was ever possible. That is why he sought the Pale Emperor to gain power. The Dwarf's body is buried nearby and he is here to protect the blissful from the truth.
As Scribbles says that the Eyeless Ones are in the Mist, Not'Chek suddenly grasps his head and urges the party to leave. Scribbles asks Not'Chek for answers, but this causes the warrior more pain. The party continues to probe into Not'Chek until he stands still. He lifts up his face, showing them that he has no eyes. A harrowing wind begins to blow.[^5](https://youtu.be/8bKiyTYopdU?feature=shared)
The party readies themselves to face Not'Chek the Fablewalker in a Fabled fight. Anaalius gets the first strike with his Aijitsu technique, tearing off a piece of Not'chek's hat. Mataal rushes behind Not'chek and casts Tasha's Hideous Laughter, making him fall prone as he laughs in despair. He then gives his first Bardic Inspiration to Anaalius, who quickly follows up and makes another strike. With light wounds, Not'chek stands up and starts his counterassault. He summons a Shard of Blood and strikes back at Anaalius. Brewbad puts a Hex on Not'Chek and Eldritch Blasts the Shard of Blood, breaking it before it can do anything.
The area begins to shift and turn as the party chooses for the Blood Spray Fable. Hoping to empower himself, Anaalius takes out all his prismatic crystals and boofs them. However, his soul was unable to control all that prismatic power; Anaalius explodes and flies into the ceiling, which stuns him for one round. Not'chek changes into an unknown stance and strikes Mataal Ika, summoning another Shard of Blood. Brewbad sees that Not'Chek is now in the Fading Warrior Stance and uses Eldritch Blasts on him, his Hex causing more damage.
Not'Chek changes the Fable to Rising Focus. Trying to break Not'Chek's focus, Shmeg uses Misty Visions to create an image of the Lorekeeper. The figure looks at Not\'Chek and shakes his head in shame. Not\'Chek loses focus only for a second, but it is enough to take him out of his Stance. After the Bloodshard fires at Mataal, Not\'Chek strikes the finishing blow at him and knocks him out, summoning another Shard of Blood. A Healing Light comes from Brewbad and brings Mataal back to the Waking Realm.
The party chooses to keep the Rising Focus Fable. Mataal casts an Earth Tremor below his feet, which hurts Not\'Chek and destroys one Shard of Blood. Anaalius rises from the ground and uses his Fighting Spirit to heal him and Mataal. Seeing that Mataal is stable, he turns serious and critically strikes the Samurai. Not\'Chek reacts by going into his Bloodletting Stance and hits Anaalius back. Another Shard of Blood is summoned. Brewbad dropkicks Not\'Chek to the ground and, to protect his friends, blocks one of the Bloodshards with his body.
Not\'Chek changes the Fable to Bloodspray. Scribbles approaches Mataal and Anaalius to exchange items so that Anaalius has the talisman and Mataal has the Revivify Potion. Scribbles then retreats, finally able to land a shot on Not'Chek. Mataal notices that Not\'Chek wields the same sword Anaalius found in the Fable, so the party realizes a special Clash could be done. Mataal starts the combo with the Ballad of Madd Morc, and Anaalius continues by using the talisman, Fighting Spirit, and his Bardic Inspiration. He unleashes all his might on Not\'Chek, and the Samurai returns the blow. Unfortunately, Not\'Chek proves to be the superior warrior; he decimates Anaalius\' sword and kills him on the spot. Not\'Chek then turns to strike Mataal, knocking him unconscious again. Brewbad brings Mataal back up and avenges his comrades by using the Scepter to enter another Clash. This time, Brewbad shatters Not\'Chek's sword with Jhasa's power, sealing Shard of Darkness and heavily damaging Not\'Chek.
Brewbad's attack marks the start of their final assault. The Fable changes to Clash of Fate. Scribbles runs away and takes out the Scroll of Not\'Chek. She then uses her blood to write a new ending to the Fable. She foretells an ending where Not\'Chek surrenders because he succumbs to the guilt of his sins. The psionic repercussions of forcefully changing the story envelop Scribbles\' mind. However, she easily overpowers the defenses and enacts her will, granting her the role of \"Author\". Thanks to her actions, Not\'Chek has disadvantage in the next Clash. Suddenly, memories of past Authors wash over Scribbles. Many lives flash before her eyes, but because she is from the West, only one is remembered: the Stranger. Scribbles has unlocked the path of Tyre\'s Apprentice, and her refracted soul is given one Secret Question. She asks: *\"What does the Pale Emperor intend to do with the violet shard?\"*
*\"The Pale Emperor intends to use the violet shard to rewrite his own story, but the stories of the past cannot be changed; it is blasphemous. His ambitions know no bounds. He will use that which can erase memory to rewrite his own story. But he is a fool, for in his ambitions, he does not realize the cost. The world weakens and the Eyeless are watchful.\"*
A moon mark is etched on Scribbles' forehead, and she gains Moonlight tattoos across her body, for she has learned the Secret of the Moon. She also learns Tyre\'s First Lesson: \"Nothing is Forbidden.\" Finally, Scribbles falls to the ground from great exhaustion.
Mataal revives Anaalius using the Revivify Potion. Shmeg rises from the back and calls upon [Oloken'hai](Oloken'hai.md). Tentacles come out of his body and clash with Not\'Chek. Weakened by his new fate, Not\'Chek's eye is pierced by a tentacle, allowing Shmeg to seal Shard of Blood. However, the battle still rages on.[^4](https://youtu.be/qWP36UuFQ9g?feature=shared)
The battle against Not'Chek the Fablewalker rages on. Hoping to regain his honor, Anaalius takes out his former longsword and engages in another Clash with Not'Chek. Unfortunately, even with the power of Old Man Sai, Not'Chek proves to be the superior student; Anaalius falls unconscious. Using the Aasimar\'s blood, Not'Chek empowers himself to attack the other party members with Whirlwind. Mataal and Brewbad drop to the ground from Not'Chek flurry of strikes.
Scribbles, exhausted from altering the Fable, is able to discern that Not'Chek will finish off her comrades in front of her eyes if Shmeg falls as well. She is able to land a bolt on Not'Chek and limps behind one of the statues. Shmeg, seeing the desperate situation before him, prays to Oloken'hai to trade his life for those of his friends. Shmeg's alignment changes from this act of prime good. The dark lord answers; dark energies flow through Schmeg's body as he clashes with Not'Chek. He triumphs over Not'Chek, sending him to the side, and all fallen party members come to consciousness. However, this action has a great cost, and Shmeg is barely able to stay afloat from exhaustion. Anaalius slowly approaches Not'Chek to finish him off, but he buckles; his body has reached its limit. He sits in the position of the Resting Monk and, just like the past, Not'Chek makes the same choice as he did with his master. The Samurai then rushes Schmeg, critically striking him. However, Shmeg Hellishly Rebukes back, forcing Not'Chek is on his last legs. Brewbad rises with the help of his staff, casts Healing Light on Anaalius, and tries to strike Not'Chek. The Samurai attempts to parry it, but Brewbad overpowers him and smashes him to the ground. The battlefield goes quiet as the party stands victorious.
Suddenly, the Scroll begins to glow, as the Fable has ended. The area around them begins to fade away. Scribbles hastily studies the Scroll, trying to find a way out.[^5](https://youtu.be/H23r0E8ialU?feature=shared)
#### Not'Chek's Journal
In Titan\'s Eye, a journal created by Not\'Chek was discovered. The journal was filled with research, and was gifted to [Otikata](Otikata.md/) with the message, \"take this and continue my work.\" The gift was said to be like \"a gift of a student to a master.\" Inside the journal, it states that the complex the journal was found in was a vessel. It then discusses how \"it is a gate. A gate that must be spread. A gate against those that have wronged them.\" The words in the journal then become scribbles, both maddening and nonsensical. Then on the last page of the journal, it is signed, \"They shall remember my name, Otikata.\"[^6](https://youtu.be/KEnNsbrKX2o?feature=shared)
