None come from happy families. They are born orphaned, abandoned, \"raised by the world.\" The land itself chooses them.[^2](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1068803626?collection=KWtuVOpIjBbB0A&t=1h47m33s) ### The Divine Wind The [Gleian](Glies.md) people have no singular ruler, and it is difficult to reach consensus among the kingdoms. They once did many years ago, when the cycle of the imperial line was decided by The Seat of Elements, an island of great mystical power that lies off the northern coast. [Azolon's](Azolon%20Cal'telonis.md) communion with [the dream realm](The%20Dream.md) has given him insight into the coming of a new emperor. This emperor will be born as a child (if they are not already born.) This child shall by chosen by the mandate of the heavens, and could be instrumental to Azolon's desire to unite all of Verum. [The Pale Emperor](Otami_Kurosai "wikilink"), far to the east, rules by fear and will seek to kill the child. Seating an emperor may be the only way to avoid war in Glies.[^3](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1068803626?collection=KWtuVOpIjBbB0A&t=0h47m45s) During the events of [The Divine Wind](The%20Divine%20Wind.md/), an emperor is born to a shrine maiden at a small shrine to the [[Yokai]] just outside of [[Bal'Lok]]. It is a male [Ho'ask](Ho'ask.md) child of the [Cheng Clan](Cheng%20Clan.md). [[Fala Jin]] has recommended that the party be given the job of protecting and guiding the child.
