Contrary to popular Glien belief, the Mist is not an occurrence of the [Yokai](Yokai "wikilink"). The Mist, otherwise known as Mechanized Internal Suppression Transporter, is an application of a sort of bio-engineered medicine meant to purge the infection of the [Eyeless Ones](Verum/Races/Non-Playable%20Races/Eyeless%20Ones.md). The Eyeless Ones are an erratic, psionic, mutating and hostile hivemind from the [Astral Sea](Astral%20Sea.md). They had invaded Glies in the past, and many of them have been buried within the Titan's Eye. The Titan's Eye itself is the landing sight of the Eyeless Ones, the crater therein. As such, the Mist was implanted thousands of years ago by an [Angel](Angels.md) from [Ragdar](Ragdar.md) within the Titan\'s Eye. The denizens of Ragdar were ancient foes to the Eyeless Ones. This implanted machine\'s purging process is known to have inadvertently caused mutations of the denizens within the Titan\'s Eye.[^1](https://youtu.be/CUck2-KjeiI?feature=shared) The movement of the Mists seem erratic, as if an Entity is directing it.[^2](https://youtu.be/dbaI8sGrwgI?feature=shared) The [Purging One](Purging_One "wikilink") was this entity, and was responsible for controlling the Mist. Other creatures of the Mist have been shown to have a localized control over it, such as the [Engorged One](Engorged_One "wikilink").[^3](https://youtu.be/8iAEcqba-sU?feature=shared) A specific paper charm can be used to protect a building inside the Mists from the creatures of the Mist, but it does not provide guaranteed protection.[^4](https://youtu.be/6_LWrNlG-es?feature=shared) It was believed that there was a cult within the mountains of the Titan\'s Eye. Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the cult no long exists as the cultists have become one with the Mist.[^5](https://youtu.be/98jPRYCzxNI?feature=shared) ## As Known by Scholars The true nature of the Mist isn\'t known to all on Glies. The extent of knowledge from most Glien scholars is that it is a peculiar \"phenomenon produced by the Titan\'s Eye. The Mist it would seem, produces this sort of pheromone, or perhaps some kind of magical inclination, whatever it is\... it causes a change in individuals. Their skin becomes more pallid, and they can even transform into various creatures. It is believed that perhaps the first [Yokai](Yokai "wikilink") were conjured from the Mist as it seems that the Mistwalkers exist somewhere in-between mortal and Yokai. A true hybrid\... \[not like the [Yozai](Yozai "wikilink")\], but rather something else entirely.\"[^6](https://youtu.be/KEnNsbrKX2o?feature=shared) ## Eclipse The [Eclipse](Eclipse "wikilink") have found a way to travel through the Mists relatively safely. This route has allowed Eclipse forces to create a foothold in the west. This route\'s discovery was attributed to [Minshi Sho](Minshi_Sho "wikilink"). ### History The Mists are actually an application of bio-engineered medicine that is meant to purge the infection of the [Eyeless Ones](Verum/Races/Non-Playable%20Races/Eyeless%20Ones.md) called **Mechanized Internal Suppression Transporter (MIST)**. This was implemented by the [Angel](Angels.md) called the [Purging One](Purging_One "wikilink") from the planet [Ragdar](Ragdar.md) onto the region of the Titan\'s Eye on [Glies](Glies "wikilink"). Due to the inhabitants lack of knowledge they believed it to be the work of [Yokai](Yokai "wikilink"). For a time, the Mist and its Mistwalkers had peace. However, a new infection that the [Angel](Purging_One "wikilink") was not designed for was introduced. The presence of a [Depthar](Depthar.md) caused the machine to go into overdrive as it attempted to combat this new infection as well. This tactic was akin to a fever in a body, purging with extreme prejudice. However, the act of doing so corrupted the Angel itself, and its purpose.[^7](https://youtu.be/CUck2-KjeiI?feature=shared) The presence of the Depthar did not only affect the Angel, but also the Eyeless One\'s buried within the Titan\'s Eye. The psionics of these creatures is very sensitive, and the \"presence of a rival predator stirred the Eyeless Ones, and some of them escaped. And as they did, they found the Mistwalkers. A tribe of peaceful, if primitive, creatures, that walk within the mist. And they subjugated them, turned them to their whim. And now, the Eyeless Ones are something else entirely, a combination of a xenomorphic creature from the Astral Sea, and a mythological spiritual creature of Eastern lore. A terrible combination. And for fifty years, they have grown in strength.\"[^8](https://youtu.be/M46D5N-axRk?feature=shared) Now that the [Purging One](Purging_One "wikilink") is destroyed, its malignant will no longer be available to control the Mists, and this has calmed them. However, \"there\'s only one way to \[completely\] stop the Mists. You must find that which the Eyeless Ones seek. The Eyeless Ones are spurred by a burning vengeance for the one that took their lives from them, that turned them into these creatures. This traitor, you must find the exiled from [Ragdar](Ragdar.md), and bring them to justice. And then the Eyeless Ones will finally have their peace.\" A month following this, however, a botched ritual by [Eli Bloodbane](Eli_Bloodbane "wikilink") and [Machio Manis](Machio_Manis "wikilink") summon forth Depthar into the [Path of Prosperity](Path_of_Prosperity "wikilink") causing the Mists to re-activate and go into overdrive again to combat the new threat.[^9](https://youtu.be/mErSzP1DHeQ?feature=shared) [Jhasa](Jhasa.md) informs [Brewbad Stormfinger](Brewbad_Stormfinger "wikilink") of this when he communes with her trying to find a safe location to raise the [Divine Emperor](Divine_Emperor "wikilink").[^10](https://youtu.be/tXa4lMPWTJI?feature=shared) ## Mystical Era There were many superstitions during the [Mystical Era](Mystical_Era "wikilink"). One of these superstitions was said to be leaving children as offerings to the Mist in order to keep local villages safe. During this era, the Mist was considered a good thing, and its denizens weren\'t feared out of revilement, but in a awe aspiring sense. There are different tales depicting which children were used as offerings. Some tales say the children need skin as pale as the moon, others say that the children needed to born with auspicious marks. To be the offering was considered an honorable position. After being offered, the children were not to be seen again. It was believed that the children that were offered were transformed by the Mist. In exchange, the Mist usually left a gift. The gifts took many forms, such as a fine dew that fed the crops, or a more literal gift left on the doorstep of those that made the offering. ### Creatures in the Mists As a whole the creatures mutated by and within the mists are most often referred to as **Mistwalkers**. The original mistwalkers were a peaceful tribe that originally inhabited the mists and were mutated by them over time while living inside it. Some influence of the [Eyeless Ones](Verum/Races/Non-Playable%20Races/Eyeless%20Ones.md) and the mists going into overdrive due to the [Depthar](Depthar.md) caused some to turn more aggressive in the years following the Cataclysm.[^11](https://youtu.be/KEnNsbrKX2o?feature=shared) Undead corrupted by the mists are also known as Mist Wraiths while spirits of the lost corrupted adventurers are also known as Mist Reavers.[^12](https://youtu.be/rbwE94-VJeY?feature=shared)
