# Resting Monk
The **Resting Monk** is a symbol through [Glies](Glies.md) that represents peace, good food, and resting. It often takes the form of a monk siting in a meditative stance. He also symbolizes the restoration of broken items. Statues of him are found within temples throughout Glies.
### History
The history of the resting monk is a very old story in Glies. It describes a friendly monk that traveled all the land, performing good deeds, giving of himself, aiding those in need, and trying to teach love, tranquility and togetherness. During his travels, the monk specialized in repairing and restoring broken things, whether that be objects or people. It is believed that he always rested under bonsai trees. It is also believed that under a bonsai tree was where he eventually perished. Where the monk died, he was made into a statue by the [[Yokai]] of the land.[^1](https://youtu.be/8bKiyTYopdU?si=rJqkbA_dCjBaI5lw)
## [Fable of Not'Chek](Fable%20of%20Not'Chek.md/)
The Resting Monk was first encountered as a statue in the [Fable of Not'Chek](Fable%20of%20Not'Chek.md/). The party of [Schmeg](Schmeg.md/), [Anaalius Penetratius](Anaalius%20Penetratius.md/), [Brewbad Stormfinger](Brewbad%20Stormfinger.md/), [Mataal Ika](Mataal%20Ika.md/), and [[Scribbles]] come across a statue of the monk within a dojo inside the Fable. [[Old Man Sai]] later rewards Anaalius with his sword Tomorrow after approving of his gestures, like when he took off his shoes when entering the dojo and offered tea. Sai states that is these little goods that show the way of the Resting Monk.[^2](https://youtu.be/SDLxRIQFBmk?si=l7myRRm04Wbln3Cu)
Later within the Fable at the [[Monastery of Not'Chek]] they another Resting Monk statue. Anaalius remembers that the Resting Monk symbolizes restoring broken items. As Scribbles puts a blood-soaked talisman they found in the bowl in front of the statue, it is restored. Brewbad does the same with *[The Fourth Account](The%20Fourth%20Account.md/)* book and opens it to the previously missing pages find them restored. While searching a storage room they find a silver disk with the symbol of the Resting Monk. Anaalius places the silver disk in the offering bowl. It dissolves, and a potion of Revivify comes out of the Resting Monk's hand.
