This resource pool represents the technological advances made by the continent, allowing the use of magic infused tech and the magical steam its combination produces. Characters with Steam can tap into this resource to do the following. It should be noted that while this is Steam that is used as currency, to use it in combat is difficult and temperamental and the limitations of this ability for Kalkateshians is represented through this. Using Steam does not deplete the currency of a character. (Unless specifically stated) Gain [resistance](Resistance.md) to a spell cast by a Mana class. Heal themselves hit points equal to their [Spirit](Spirit.md). Power a device (cost and length of time determined by GM). The maximum amount of Steam a character has is equal to the number of character paths they possess. This resource pool is refreshed whenever the character finishes a comfortable long rest. ### [Steam Powered](Steam%20Powered.md) <small>(Level 1)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)*, *[Empower](Empower.md)* Whenever the Steam Lord would use [Steam](Steam.md), they gain [Courage](Courage.md) equal to their [Competence](Competence.md), [Guile](Guile.md), or [Tenacity](Tenacity.md). ### [Heavy Armor Specialist](Heavy%20Armor%20Specialist.md) <small>(Level 1)</small> This character gains an [augment](Armor%20Augment.md) from an armor they are proficient with. It gains an additional augment at levels 3, 6, and 9. ### [Alchemist](Alchemist%20(Steam%20Lord).md) <small>(Level 1)</small> The Steam Lord gains the use of Alchemical Formulae and may create alchemical consumables. The Steam Lord starts with a number of Alchemical formulae equal to the their [Competence](Competence.md), [Guile](Guile.md), or [Tenacity](Tenacity.md). The Steam Lord may learn other Alchemical formulae as they continue their career. ### [War Engine](War%20Engine.md) <small>(Level 2)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)*, *[Empower](Empower.md)* The Steam Lord may treat their weapon as a device that can be powered by their Steam. Whenever the Steam Lord makes an attack with their weapon they can empower that attack. If they do they cause the entire attack to deal damage as Force damage with additional damage equal to the Steam Lord’s [Spirit](Spirit.md). A weapon can only be used in this manner a number of times per combat equal to its [APC](Action%20Point%20Cost.md). ### [Vent Pressure](Vent%20Pressure.md) <small>(Level 4)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)*, *[Economy](Economy.md)* Whenever the Steam Lord would take damage to their temporary hit points (THP), if the total THP of damage they sustain in a round is equal to their [Spirit](Spirit.md) or more, they gain a point of [Steam](Steam.md) as the pressure ventilates from their armor. This can only occur a number of times per combat equal to the Steam Lord's [Competence](Competence.md), [Guile](Guile.md), or [Tenacity](Tenacity.md). ### [Sacred Flesh, Blessed Metal](Sacred%20Flesh,%20Blessed%20Metal.md) <small>(Level 5)</small> The Steam Lord is [immune](Immunity.md) to critical hits. ### [Overclock](Overclock.md) <small>(Level 7)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)*, *[Economy](Economy.md)* The Steam Lord may spend 10 nch (notch) of [Steam](Steam.md) to to power an ability that costs [Steam](Steam.md). The Steam Lord may use this ability a number of times per combat equal to their [Competence](Competence.md), [Guile](Guile.md), or [Tenacity](Tenacity.md). ### [Recalibrate](Recalibrate.md) <small>(Level 8)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Magic](Magic.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)* The Steam Lord has the capacity to use [Steam](Steam.md) to augment their allies and their power sources. As long as the Steam Lord is [Supplied](Supplied.md), they and all of their allies that possess a continental resource begin the day with an additional one of those resources, this allows it to go above the maximum normally imposed. This ability does not stack with other instances of Recalibrate. ### [Machine Soul](Machine%20Soul.md) <small>(Level 10)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Artificial](Artificial.md)* The Steam Lord transfers their spiritual energy into [Steam](Steam.md) to be used on the battlefield. The Steam Lord may use 3 [Courage](Courage.md) to power a [Steam](Steam.md) ability instead of actual [Steam](Steam.md). This cannot be used outside of combat and its use does not activate the [Steam Powered](Steam%20Powered.md) class feature.
