Not you. You are a Monastic, your Faith is utilized in the self, the tangibility of your body and the near limitless expanse of your own mind. Whether through monastic study, careful reflection, or great suffering the path of your faith opened up to you and the epiphany of the self is revealed. Why did you become a Monastic? Is a long standing tradition of a secluded monastery in which you were raised? Did you discover it yourself after a period of great suffering? Perhaps you found it in nature, or in the faces of people who had suffered alongside you? Whatever the origin of your revelations, it is clear that Faith and what its true definition is, remains your driving force, towards self understanding, and a greater form of living. ### [Inner Faith](Inner%20Faith.md) <small>(Level 1)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)*, *[Core](Core.md)* The Monastic cannot gain Mana through the [Channel](Channel.md) action, nor do they gain a [Mana Point (MP)](Mana.md) at the start of their turns as a normal faith character. Instead, their [mana](Mana.md) is generated by the strength of their body, training, and confidence in their discipline. The Monastic gains 1 [Mana Point (MP)](Mana.md) whenever it would accomplish one of the following actions. Each such action can only grant 1 [Mana Point (MP)](Mana.md) per round. - Successfully attack an enemy with an unarmed strike - Critically Hit an enemy with an attack - Successfully [Avoid](Avoid.md) damage - Successfully [Parry](Parry.md) an attack - Successfully [Block](Block.md) an attack ### [Faith Over Flesh](Faith%20Over%20Flesh.md) <small>(Level 1)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)* The Monastic loses all armor and shield proficiency. They cannot wear armor or use a shield of any kind. Whenever the Monastic would gain a [Mana Point (MP)](Mana.md), they also gain an equivalent amount of [Courage](Courage.md). While the Monastic has Temporary Hit Points (THP), they gain an additional bonus to their AC equal to their [Stamina](Stamina.md), [Willpower](Willpower.md), or [Authority](Authority.md). ### [Unarmed Specialist](Unarmed%20Specialist.md) <small>(Level 1)</small> This character gains an augment to a qualifying weapon they are proficient with. It gains another of these augments at levels 3, 6, and 9. ### [Tenet of Discipline](Tenet%20of%20Discipline.md) <small>(Level 2)</small> Keywords - *[Magic](Magic.md)*, *[Empower](Empower.md)*, *[Oath](Oath.md)* The Monastic makes a pledge to protect to control themselves and seek a higher existence. They adhere to the following tenets in order priority. 1) Control yourself, allow your faculties unburdened and undeceived. 2) Emotions are useful, but only when regulated, you are in control. 3) A clean mind is as clean as the body, hygiene is of utmost importance. 4) Mediation is the cleansing of the soul, it must always be performed. As long as the Monastic maintains the above tenets, they gain access to the following. If the Monastic already has [Regeneration](Regeneration.md), they are instead imbued with [Warded](Warded.md) with the same parameters. If they are already imbued with [Regeneration](Regeneration.md) and [Warded](Warded.md), they are also imbued with [Blessed](Blessed.md) with the same parameters. ### [Surge of Ki](Surge%20of%20Ki.md) <small>(Level 5)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)*, *[Empower](Empower.md)*, *[Imbue](Imbue.md)*, *[Economy](Economy.md)* At the start of the Monastic's turn, if they are imbued with at least three different [imbuements](Imbuement.md), they are imbued with [Haste](Haste.md) the tier of which is equal to the lowest tier of their [imbuements](Imbuement.md). ### [Character Path](Character%20Paths.md) <small>(Level 6)</small> *"Growth is not linear, it branches, folds, and spirals. You now walk a second path."* ### [Shattering Strike](Shattering%20Strike.md) <small>(Level 7)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)*, *[Attack](Attack.md)* APC - 3 Target - Enemy Range - Melee Range The Monastic makes an Unarmed attack. If the target takes damage from this attack, the Monastic makes a contested ability check against the target. The Monastic uses their [Stamina](Stamina.md), [Willpower](Willpower.md), or [Authority](Authority.md). The enemy may use their [Prowess](Prowess.md), [Tenacity](Tenacity.md), or [Wit](Wit.md). If the Monastic succeeds, they may remove an [imbuement](Imbuement.md) the target is benefiting from. ### [Moment of Zen](Moment%20of%20Zen.md) <small>(Level 8)</small> Keywords - *[Mundane](Mundane.md)*, *[Supernatural](Supernatural.md)* The Monastic has the capacity to spend time mediating to purge themselves of [afflictions](Affliction.md), [wounds](Wounded.md), and other conditions. The GM determines the amount of time required to purge these conditions. Moment of Zen cannot remove Major injuries or higher. If they do, they may remove the [affliction](Affliction.md). If this occurs, the Monastic incurs the [Prepared](Prepared.md) [imbuement](Imbuement.md) the tier of which is equal to the Monastic's [Prowess](Prowess.md), [Tenacity](Tenacity.md), or [Wit](Wit.md).
