The caster and target make a Contested Check - the caster uses [Cunning](Cunning.md), [Grace](Grace.md) or [Vigor](Vigor.md), and the target uses [Resilience](Resilience.md), [Tenacity](Tenacity.md) or [Willpower](Willpower.md). If the caster wins, the target is afflicted with Tier I [Cursed](Cursed.md), manifesting as a grotesque physical deformity of the caster's choosing, for as long as this spell is maintained. This deformity acts as a Critical Injury for the purposes of any ability that interacts with Critical Injuries, but does not count as an actual Injury, and cannot defeat the target. - **Spell Ascension** – For each point of Ascension, increase the Tier of the Cursed affliction by I. ## **Indigo** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md)* **Color Effect** – The caster may sacrifice Hit Points, [Mana](Mana.md), or a point of [Courage](Courage.md) equal to their [Spirit](Spirit.md). If they do, and the caster wins the check, the deformity leaves a permanent scar even after this spell ends - the target suffers a -1 penalty to [Presence](Presence.md)-based checks for the rest of the encounter. ## **Blue** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md)* **Color Effect** – If the caster wins the check, this spell may instead [Afflict](Afflict.md) a second enemy within 10 ft. of the first with the same deformity. ## **Green** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md), [Heal](Heal.md)* **Color Effect** – If the caster wins the check, the deformity instead manifests as sudden feral overgrowth - bark, vines, or fur bursting from the target's skin. The caster heals Hit Points equal to their [Spirit](Spirit.md), and the target is also afflicted with Tier I [Prone](Prone.md) as the growth overwhelms their balance. ## **Yellow** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md), [Economy](Economy.md)* **Color Effect** – The deformity fuses the target's jaw shut. While afflicted, they are also afflicted with Tier I [Mute](Mute.md)/[Silenced](Silenced.md) for as long as this spell is maintained. ## **Orange** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md), [Empower](Empower.md)* **Color Effect** – The deformity twists a limb useless. While afflicted, the target is also afflicted with Tier I [Staggered](Staggered.md)/[Dazed](Dazed.md), and their self-image fractures alongside their body, afflicting them with Tier I [Frightened](Frightened.md)/[Horror](Horror.md) as well, for as long as this spell is maintained. ## **Red** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md)* **Color Effect** – An ally gains a bonus to attack rolls made against the deformed target equal to the Tier of the [Affliction](Affliction.md), and the caster or that ally learns an ability that [Lore Acumen](Lore%20Acumen%20(Wizard).md) would reveal about the target's true nature, exposed by the deformity. ## **Violet** **Keywords** - *[Polymorph](Polymorph%20Sphere.md), [Afflict](Afflict.md), [Depower](Depower.md), [Economy](Economy.md)* **Color Effect** – If the caster wins the check, the target is afflicted with Tier I [Stunned](Stunned.md) whenever they attempt to use an ability tied to their natural, non-deformed anatomy, as their body rebels against its old shape.
