It can spread and infect via the use of Psionic powers gained by its hosts so they don't have to touch a person to infect them. ### Depthar Infection The Depthar infection can be spread in different ways depending on the progress of the infection. The person who has the disease must make a CON saving throw every long rest to prevent the infection from progressing to the next stage. DC 12 CON saving throw to spread. However, consecutive saves against this roll increases it by 1. You require three failed constitution saving throws to progress to Carrier Level 1. Removal is possible, but the Depthar Infection is DC 18 + 5 per Carrier Level. However, every attempt of curing the infected creature has a chance of infecting the caster. Ability score check of their casting stat vs the Infection DC. The Depthar infection ignores the absolute trait. ##### Carrier Level 0 The infection may spread: - Blood (Taking [Bleed (C)](Bleed%20(C).md) damage can infect adjacent creatures and being attacked while downed can spread the infection) - Consumption (If a creature attempts to bite you or you bite another creature) ##### Carrier Level 1 ??? ### History [Crowley](Crowley.md) experimented on the virus on [Azengolt](Azengolt.md), creating an ever evolving form of it that grew to take over much of the planet. Once some [Eldar](Verum/Races/Elf/Eldar.md) were infected by it, due to their immortality, it caused the Depthar to gain some intelligence and form into a hivemind.[1](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_02) On [Azengolt](Azengolt.md), it is known that if an [Eldar](Verum/Races/Elf/Eldar.md) is ever infected by a Depthar, no matter the level of infection, they are to be executed. The reason being, when a _fully_ infected host dies, they become undead and are transformed into a Depthar. The older the host at their time of death, the more powerful a Depthar they become. Thus, the immortal Eldar are of utmost concern in regards to Infection.[2](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CS_qPvADU4rrbvExwbpmIWX3M277cbklNmzOwrBCTY4) [Tyre](Tyre.md) created [Fleshcrime Omega](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Fleshcrime_Omega "Fleshcrime Omega") from a member of [The Seven](The%20Seven.md) and the Depthar virus.[1](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-:1-1) ### [Seren's Infection](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Seren "Seren")[](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar?veaction=edit&section=2 "Edit section: Seren's Infection") There is Satyr dream druid from [Kalkatesh](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Kalkatesh "Kalkatesh") named [Seren](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Seren "Seren"). She participated in the _[Heart of Tyre](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre "Heart of Tyre")_ wing of [The Labyrinth](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/The_Labyrinth "The Labyrinth") during the Trials of Tyre. After listening to the [Fleshcrime Omega](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Fleshcrime_Omega "Fleshcrime Omega") speak Druidic, she became infected with the Depthar. This gave her access to Psionic abilities and a connection to the **Brass King**, a Depthar Overmind. During her time in the Labyrinth, her body would mutate and contort over time. Especially if her infection levels increased. Seren eventually made the choice to accept the Depthar within her, gaining a psionic hunger, and undergo a metamorphosis that transforms her into an [Eldar](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Eldar "Eldar"). Three of the Depthar Overminds tried to embed themselves into Seren's mind, but the Brass King came out victorious. She would become a full Depthar and be dubbed The Brass Queen.[3](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-:0-3) Currently, Seren is not a Depthar, but still an Eldar. Due to her body being released from the [Herald](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Herald "Herald") and the [Enemy](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Enemy "Enemy") after they were defeated, the Depthar infection was no longer within her. The Depthar Infection is lingering on Verum and is probably not on Azengolt anymore. Based on events that's happened in _[Heart of Tyre](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre "Heart of Tyre")_[3](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-:0-3) and the descriptions in _[Lost at Sea](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Lost_at_Sea "Lost at Sea")_[[4]](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-4), we can assume an Overmind's Queen or King status changes based on the sex of the vessel carrying them. ### **Glies's Latest Outbreak**[](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar?veaction=edit&section=3 "Edit section: Glies's Latest Outbreak") Due to an effort to save [Dik'Cok](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Dik_Cok "Dik Cok") from his captors, [Eli Bloodbane](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Eli_Bloodbane "Eli Bloodbane") and [Machio Manis](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Machio_Manis "Machio Manis") devised a plan to summon the favor of [Crowley](Crowley.md) to aid with the rescue. After piling up corpses from a ruined village they were in, they created a shrine of corpses and blood. After a series of rolls and a quiz to Eli about his god, they inavertedly provided Crowley enough divine sway in [Glies](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Glies "Glies") to start yet another Dephtar infection event, infecting the [Black Silver bandits](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Blacksilver_Bandit "Blacksilver Bandit") raiding the village with the Dephtar infection, turning them into Fleshcrimes and even almost infecting Machio in the process. Due to the nature of the [Mist](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Mists_of_Glies "Mists of Glies"), it seems like it reactivates again upon detection of the Dephtar infection, battling the Fleshcrimes. ## Known Depthar[](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar?veaction=edit&section=4 "Edit section: Known Depthar") - [Fleshcrimes](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Fleshcrime "Fleshcrime") - [Fleshcrime Omega](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Fleshcrime_Omega "Fleshcrime Omega") - [Anarchy](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Anarchy "Anarchy") - [Seren](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Seren "Seren") (former) - The Brass King/Queen (Overmind) - The Silver Queen/King (Overmind) - Emerald Jack (Overmind) - "The Ace" - The [Death That Lives](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Death_That_Lives "Death That Lives")[[5]](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-5) - [Mavos Telvanni](https://www.worldanvil.com/w/verum-arcadum/a/mavos-telvanni-person) (Living World) is a warlock for The Death That Lives. With his research, he discovered that The Death That Lives previously was a psionic seed hailing from Azengolt which infected an Old Ones Patron on [Baba Yaga](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Baba_Yaga "Baba Yaga"). - [Lessen](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CS_qPvADU4rrbvExwbpmIWX3M277cbklNmzOwrBCTY4/edit#bookmark=id.3u8li39ximwn) - Lesser Overmind Boss from _[Iron and Sorrow](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Iron_and_Sorrow "Iron and Sorrow")_[2](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_note-:2-2) ## Trivia[](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar?veaction=edit&section=5 "Edit section: Trivia") - The Depthar virus has been described as akin to "the T-virus from Resident Evil but on steroids" - Creatures from [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md) and Glies have more resistance to infection than the living of Azengolt. - Depthar are attracted to noise. - Depthar exist in many different forms, including humanoids, hounds, amalgamations, casters, robots, flying, and more. - Flying Depthar are typically more intelligent than groundwalking Depthar. ## References[](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar?veaction=edit&section=6 "Edit section: References") 1. ↑ [Jump up to:1.0](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:1_1-0) [1.1](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:1_1-1) [Heart of Tyre: Episode 02](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_02 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 02"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 09](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_09 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 09"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 07](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_07 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 07"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 06](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_06 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 06") 2. ↑ [Jump up to:2.0](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:2_2-0) [2.1](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:2_2-1) [_Iron and Sorrow_ Notes and Transcripts](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CS_qPvADU4rrbvExwbpmIWX3M277cbklNmzOwrBCTY4) 3. ↑ [Jump up to:3.0](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:0_3-0) [3.1](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Depthar#cite_ref-:0_3-1) [Heart of Tyre: Episode 03](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_03 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 03"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 04](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_04 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 04"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 06](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_06 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 06"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 07](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_07 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 07"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 20](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_20 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 20"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 21](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_21 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 21"), [Heart of Tyre: Episode 23](https://verum.fandom.com/wiki/Heart_of_Tyre:_Episode_23 "Heart of Tyre: Episode 23") 4.
