The continent is described as a wasteland and is one of the most dangerous places in the planet of [Verum](Verum.md). The people of Elda'sharkai value strength above all. When their god of death, [Aladine](Aladine.md), stopped responding to their prayers, a traitor convinced many of them leave for [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md). With so many gone, the [Shar'kai](Shar'kai.md) were not prepared to face the great famine, and it left the continent weak and desperate. --- #
Notable Recent Events
*
These were provided by Arcadum in the Discord, in lieu of the beginning of the
[
Aelenclast Arc.
](Aelenclast.md)*
## **
Imperial Calendar Year 1770
** It has been 500 years since the Last Stand, when all of creation had been spared its death. In Elda'sharkai, this monumental occasion was treated as a solemn event. Death denied to the weak is sacrilege, and yet, Aladine’s memory was kept alive by the actions of the weak and feeble. This paradox of the [Shar'kai](Shar'kai.md) religion led to a threatened schism of the holy church. The rebels, led by Cor Cy Ael, considered traitor by those at the highest rungs of power, was beloved by the people below as well as by foreign dignitaries. Change was long and difficult, but eventually some amendments were made to holy documents of Aladine, ones to include the greater world as a whole. The long life of the Shar'kai has put the conversation of these controversial changes to a momentary rest, as something else approached. The seer of three, the Kal Ka Vaasca Kai, foretold of a war, one that would be so potent that the deaths it caused could bring back Aladine; to return their dark prince and to teach the world the wonders of death. The revelation silenced nearly all of the supporters of Cor Cy Ael, and although he was no longer treated as a traitor, he was an outcast. The Shar'kai began to make preparations, their zealotry driving them to the war that was to come.
- The River of Compassion, known as *Vera Kal*, serves as one of the three holy rivers of Aladine for the cleansing of new Shar'kai. It is also a place where the lesser races are allowed to live, to serve and drink the waters. It is the only place without specific permission the lesser races are allowed to venture. To go outside of this area is paramount to treason, and the changes of Cor Cy Ael did little to appease the harsh penalty. It did, however, allow the lesser races to travel on the river with vessels made of the appropriately sanctified wood. This allowed growth of the lesser races have served the Shar'kai to a greater extend.
- The River of Mercy, known as *Vera Ka*, serves as the second holy river that flows through Elda'sharkai. Its waters contain within them the many poisons of the sky and earth, carrying them to the sea, it acts to cleanse the other waters in order to allow life to exist. It is where magnificent creatures, filled with killing potential spawn and lend as good practice for novice Shar'kai to test themselves. Cor Cy Ael’s influence saw to it that this river was fit with a dam. An expensive endeavour, of which there was great resistance, but its completion did prove a theory: the land was fertile when the river flooded, leading to an increase of food supply and less starving amongst the lesser races.
- The River of Wisdom, known as *Vera Kai*, serves as the third holy river that flows directly through the holy city of *Cathe Elda*, the closest thing to a capitol city on the continent. This river holds a deadly concoction of life-giving parasites and mana. Exposing oneself to it can have deadly, altering consequences. The Shar'kai has used it constantly on themselves in holy rituals to achieve their current power and lifespan. Cor Cy Ael fought his greatest diplomatic battle over the mandatory exposure to the river. So many young Shar'kai have been lost on the third trial to adulthood, with the final river killing more than 60% of them. Cor Cy Ael was victorious, not in convincing them to not expose them, but to do it through various instruments which increased the chance of success.
## Current Common Knowledge: *Elves are the chosen race; they are the longest lived, and they are the wisest and mightiest. Some of your cousins have forgotten that. It is best to remind them.* *Suffer no disrespect from the lesser races. They are beneath you.* *All we do is for Aladine’s return. It is only through him can we find salvation.* *Only the Strong can be kind. Power is the highest and truest form of justice.*
## Current Viewpoints of Other Continents: *[Ryne](Ryne.md) is filled with the weak. Perhaps they may be useful as fodder.* *[Glies](Glies.md) has warriors. Short lived ones that confuse honor with purpose. Fools that wont live long enough to realize how worthless they are.* *[Corvanis](Corvanis.md) is filled with a people that shall scream the loudest upon Aladine’s return.* *[Whyxxstar](Whyxxstar.md) is filled with impressive warriors, for lesser races. We do enjoy a good blood sacrifice.* *[Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md) gave solace to Cor Cy Ael, and indeed have proven their strength. Perhaps after we free their elves from their sentiments, their continent may be saved.* *[Aelenclast](Aelenclast.md) is a new land where we can spread the great name of Aladine, and to deny the desperate faiths of lesser races their foothold.*
