They are the offspring of an [Elf](Elf.md) and [Human](Corvanian%20Human.md) which can be further categorized down by their [Elven](Elf.md) ancestry. ### Background Half-Elves are elves who are born from a union between any of the [Elven](Elf.md) sub races and a human. They are born with features of both races. ### Characteristics Half-Elves are humanoids with a mix of [Human](Verum/Races/Human.md) and [Elven](Elf.md) features. ### As a playable race Half-Elves are a standard playable race in 5e and [Verum](Verum.md). One can choose to be a basic Half-Elf or one of 4 other subraces based on a specific type of elven ancestry. #### Stats and Abilities - **Ability Scores**: Cha +2; Choose any other two unique +1 - **Size**: Half-elves are about the same size as humans, ranging from 5 to 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium. - **Speed**: 30 feet - **Age**: Half-elves mature at the same rate humans do and reach adulthood around the age of 20. They live much longer than humans, however, often exceeding 180 years. - **Alignment**: Half-elves share the chaotic bent of their elven heritage. They value both personal freedom and creative expression, demonstrating neither love of leaders nor desire for followers. They chafe at rules, resent others' demands, and sometimes prove unreliable, or at least unpredictable. - **[Darkvision](References/Terms/Vision/Darkvision.md)**: Thanks to your elf blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in [Dim Light](Dim%20Light.md) within 60 feet of you as if it were [Bright Light](Bright%20Light.md), and in darkness as if it were [Dim Light](Dim%20Light.md).
