They are a homebrew race in [Verum](Verum.md) and the native race of the continent of [Elda'Sharkai](Elda'Sharkai.md) on Verum. ### Characteristics The Sharkai on [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md) originally descend from another continent of blood, dust and danger. Sharkai who have migrated live around the Mage's Guild in the sands of [Majital](Majital.md). Sharkai have a three part naming system of family name, given name and rank. They usually eschew fancy clothing in favor of practical gear. Sharkai Elves, when with a partner, perform a mating duel. Both sides are scantily clad in diaphanous clothing and armed with wooden weapons and the first one naked is the "loser". They have a religious culture of brutal efficiency and cowardice is considered a major shame among the Sharkai. ### Background >_Sharkai are [Elves](Verum/Races/Elf/Elf.md) from a continent separate from [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md) known as [Elda'Sharkai](Elda'Sharkai.md). They worship a god of death and battle, possess ashen skin - hence the nickname Ash Elves - and come from a land of famine and strife where every day is a struggle to survive. They are hardy, swift and intelligent - with bodies tempered by survival._ > >_Some among the Shar'kai journeyed in exile from their home of [Elda'Sharkai](Elda'Sharkai.md), crossing through one of the ancient [Eldar](Verum/Races/Elf/Eldar.md) gates and have entered the continent of [Kalkatesh](Kalkatesh.md), bringing with them an alien culture. A culture that views death in a different light, the struggles of life forged nearly all Shar'kai into ambitious, merciless warriors, who will not hesitate to destroy what is before them. The Shar'kai that traveled with Cor Cy Ael, have left behind only one piece of their culture, their religion in [Aladine](Aladine.md). Branded as heretics, due to the belief that the god of death had died, they left in exile to seek freedom in another land._ # As a playable race Shar'kais are a homebrew race in [Verum](Verum.md). **Prerequisite** - In order to begin play as a Sharkai, you must be a member of the Mage's Guild, the Watch Wall, OR the Great Coven. Your size is Medium.| > |**Speed**|30 feet| > | **Age**|Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.| > |**Alignment**|Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others' freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not.| > |**[Darkvision](References/Terms/Vision/Darkvision.md)**|Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in [Dim Light](Dim%20Light.md) within 60 feet of you as if it were [Bright Light](Bright%20Light.md), and in darkness as if it were [Dim Light](Dim%20Light.md). You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.| >|**Not Yet**|You have advantage on death saving throws.| >|**Trance**|Elves don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep. If you meditate during a long rest, you finish the rest after only 4 hours. You otherwise obey all the rules for a long rest; only the duration is changed.| >|**Sharkai Weapon Training**|You have proficiency in three two-handed weapons of your choice.| >|**Glory of Aladine**|When you defeat a creature, you are healed for a total amount of hit points equal to your character level + your Constitution modifier. Once this ability is triggered, it cannot be triggered again until you complete a short or long rest.| >|**Unbroken**|You ignore the first level of [Exhaustion](Exhaustion%20(C).md) you would take.
